Local independent hearing care provider launches Central Tarporley hearing clinic
Hummingbird Hearingcare is delighted to announce the launch of a NEW clinic in the heart of rural Tarporley. Putting personalised and professional care at the front and centre of the Hummingbird ethos, their comprehensive service covers all aspects of hearing health, working with the very latest and most sophisticated diagnostic equipment. Having worked with two of the national high street businesses, Audiologist Samuel began practicing independently in 2017, when Hummingbird was founded. Sam’s wife Eleanor joined the business in an active role in 2019 and Hummingbird has been a family practice ever since. Since its inception, Hummingbird has been delivering excellent care at the local level across Cheshire and beyond, with clients happy to share their positive experiences, and successful outcomes under the care of this establishing local hearing care provider. Appointments are available now for a FREE 15 minute Hearing Health Check at their Wednesday clinic, held at wellness centre: Sanare Spa, 32b High St, Tarporley, Cheshire, CW6 0DX.
Audiologist Samuel Owen says “A number of recent studies have established that hearing loss, even when mild, is linked to cognitive decline in older people – simply put, if you leave a hearing loss untreated, you more-than double the risk of developing dementia, as the brain has to redirect more energy to hearing rather than to processing the meaning of what was said, which is the intellectually stimulating part of communication. Hearing loss is often addressed too late, as the onset is slow, and most sufferers believe that it isn’t their fault they aren’t hearing well, but that it is because people mumble or talk too quietly; they don’t realise their hearing has slowly deteriorated.”
In light of the results of new medical research*, healthcare professionals recommend that people over 60 years old have annual ear health checks in order to monitor, and if required, address any hearing impairment.
Hearing Health Checklist:
- Do you often feel that people are mumbling or not speaking clearly?
- TV not quite as clear as it used to be?
- Are your friends and relatives commenting on your hearing?
If so, it’s time to have a check-up. You have your eyes tested, teeth checked, blood pressure taken – it is important to look after your ears too.
*The ACHIEVE Study: a longitudinal long term multi-centre randomised control trial over a 3 year period. The lead investigators were Frank Lin, MD PhD, and Josef Coresh MD PhD with their team at Johns Hopkins University.
